Advanced Logic Technology (ALT) - Luxembourg

ALT (Advanced Logic Technology) develops and delivers software and hardware products to the logging industry since 1993.

The company is known in the design and manufacture of leading edge slimhole imaging probes and data logging system. The slimhole Acoustic Borehole televiewer (ABI40) is used worldwide for geotechnical, mining and hydrological applications. The tool has become a reference in logging industry. Latest development includes casing inspection capabilities.

The product line includes optical televiewer, full waveform sonic, dual induction and formation density.

The company is the developer of WellCAD software an acclaimed user-friendly software package featuring technically excellent display, editing and analysis capabilities for well data. WellCAD basic is the central application of the package. A number of add-on modules can be activated to meet user specific requirements.

ALT products are used worldwide on a routine basis by a wide range of users (oil&gas operators, geo-consultants, geological surveys, wireline logging companies, mining companies and many more). Over 1000 Geoscientists use the WellCAD package.

Role in the project

ALT provides modifications to existing high temperature televiewer to the HITI project. This will include further testing on acoustic sensor to improve measurements in open hole and cased hole and the design of new centralizers. Furthermore, they plan to design new electronic boards (hardware, firmware) to improve data acquisition and down hole processing (mainly in cased hole applications). ALT will also invest in an in house temperature and pressure testing facility, and in a testing set up. This set up will allow ALT to do more accurate lab testing and therefore refine the method used in corrosion evaluation. This set up will also be used to evaluate the possibility to extract cement quality behind casing. If the tests are promising, ALT will implement a prototype for field-testing (will imply at minimum new electronic design and both firmware and software modifications).
