Bureau de Recherche Géologiques et Minières (BRGM) - France
BRGM is the French national institute for research on earth and environment sciences in the sustainable management of natural resources and the subsurface domain. BRGM's research and development programmes, financed by the Ministry of Research, support innovation and work towards advancing the Earth Sciences in strategic areas, both on a national and international scale. With a staff of 850, BRGM can combine the experience and skills of specialists in following fields of activities : earth modeling, management of water and mineral resources, natural hazards, Industrial environment and processing procedures, energy (geothermics - underground storage) and environmental metrology.
BRGM is involved in a high standard of research activities under the supervision of the Research Division, which ensures the quality of the undergoing research projects, especially in the field of energy and environmental metrology. BRGM has more than 20 years experience in the geothermal field. In France, it has taken part in the development of the low enthalpy geothermal field of the Paris basin. It has recently carried out works of geothermal exploration in Martinique and in La Reunion. BRGM must be in charge of the research of the high enthalpy geothermal field of Bouillante in Guadeloupe and to the European EGS project of Soultz-sous-Forêts in Alsace. In foreign countries (e.g. Salvador, Azores, Djibouti, and Chile), BRGM has carried out several projects of geothermal exploration or development. BRGM has also experience in the development of physical and chemical sensors for geothermal and environmental applications. In addition to contributing to the advancement of basic knowledge, research activities aim to contribute to the development of innovative technologies featuring research in public / private partnership.

Role in the project
BRGM will provide a wireline temperature logging instrument tolerating up to the temperature limit of existing high temperature logging cables (320 °C). In addition, new methods for reservoir analysis will be applied a Li-Na geothermometer and high temperature organic tracer tests. Proven experience in all these methods and good access to human resources and equipment within BRGM.
